Built around the moment, not the aisle
momisit is a small, independent review and guide site for mothers — and for anyone doing the same job under a different name.
The problem with category pages
Almost every parenting site is organised the way a shop is: feeding, sleep, travel, toys. That works if you know what you want to buy. It is useless at the point where most decisions actually get made, which is in the middle of a situation that is already going badly.
So the organising unit here is the moment. Getting out the door. A nap that did not happen. Dinner in twenty minutes. Each one collects whatever helps, whether that is a product, a routine, or the information that this particular problem has no product solution.
Who it is for
Anyone carrying the logistics of small children alongside the rest of a life. Mothers mostly, because that is who this was built by and for, but nothing here depends on it.
We assume you are short of time, reasonably sceptical, and uninterested in being told how to parent. The site is written accordingly.
What you can expect
Specific over comprehensive
Six categories reviewed properly beats sixty listed. If a page says "in progress", that is the truth rather than a placeholder for content that will never arrive.
Costs stated
Every recommendation names what it costs — in money, in space, in daily faff. A product that works brilliantly and needs cleaning twice a day is described that way.
No judgement attached
Breast or bottle, cot or co-sleep, working or home. Those are your decisions. We write about what helps once you have made them.
Independent
No sponsored verdicts, ever. How the site makes money is a page, not a footnote.
